When Trinity School’s headmaster, Dr. Henry C. Moses, announced his intention to retire in June of 2009, the Board of Trustees began immediately planning for an orderly succession. To that end, the Board formed a Search Committee, led by trustees Tory Kiam ’78 and Judy Slotkin. The Search Committee is composed of Trinity trustees, parents, alumni, faculty and administrators.
The goal of the Search Committee is to find the best possible person to lead Trinity as the school embarks into its fourth century. The Search Committee believes the most appropriate way to do this is to run a process that is as inclusive, broad and transparent as practically possible, and intends to tap into the talents and insights of all of the constituencies of the Trinity community to determine the school’s strengths, needs and desired direction.
To facilitate this process as well as to help identify and screen candidates, the Search Committee has recommended, and the Board of Trustees has approved, the selection of Spencer Stuart as consultants. This Head of School Search web page contains a direct link to Spencer Stuart which will allow anyone in the Trinity community to share his/her thoughts on the process, nominate a specific candidate or apply for the position. The Search Committee encourages anyone who has something to contribute to this process to do so. All communication with Spencer Stuart will be kept strictly confidential.
The Board of Trustees and the Search Committee expect that the search process will be an enlightening one for the entire Trinity community, and will ultimately yield a terrific new head of school. |

Most importantly, we are pleased to report that the search process is on schedule and is proceeding as planned. Based on feedback from Spencer Stuart, the reaction to Trinity’s Head of School position has been very positive and the interest level in the position and in our school has been strong. Their feedback indicates that it is perceived as a high profile position and it is attracting high caliber talent.

Trinity is one of our strongest schools, widely recognized as such in New York and across the country. I believe the school is on the threshold of greatness, and that new leadership will take you all over that threshold. Thanks to every Trinity person I have known for the richness of these years since 1991.

Hank Moses has formally notified the Board that he will retire in June, 2009 after eighteen years as Trinity’s headmaster. In his usual fashion, Hank has consulted with me, my immediate predecessors, and the Board of Trustees as he has come to this decision over the past few years.
Consequently, the Board has been able to prepare carefully for this transition.
