Latin

Most students enrolled in the Trinity Latin program take Latin Caesar-Vergil AP in the tenth or eleventh grade.
This course emphasizes literature and close textual reading instead of the topics covered in the Latin Subject Test, which is primarily grammar and fact oriented. Students are therefore advised to sit for the AP exam in the spring of the junior or sophomore year rather than the Subject Test. Those students who are particularly good in grammar and who are concerned with having a sufficient number of subject tests may wish to take the subject test in Latin as well. They should consult, however, with the department head prior to registering for the exam and be ready to do additional preparation on their own.
