Kindergarten through Grade 4

To apply for Kindergarten, you should begin the process in the fall prior to the year of entrance. Parents are given a tour of the school by a Trinity parent, and on a separate visit, applicants and parents will visit with a member of the admissions staff.  Children must be five years old before September 1 to enter Kindergarten.  We do not offer spring tours.

Since most new students enter in Kindergarten, spaces for grades 1-4 are available only through attrition.  We would be pleased to consider your child’s application should openings occur.  Applications should be filed in the fall and supplementary materials should be forwarded to the school.  If space allows, our office will call to schedule visits.

For specific step by step instructions, please refer to the grade you are applying for and contact us if you have any questions.
Grades 5 through 12

Almost all students enter Trinity School in Kindergarten or Grade Nine. We add approximately 65 new students in Grade Nine, which makes our Upper School nearly double the size of our Middle School. In some years, there are also openings for new students in Grades Five, Six, Seven, Ten, and Eleven, due to the attrition of enrolled students.

Most candidates for Trinity apply in the early fall. Application materials are available on the day after Labor Day each year, and we hope to receive completed application forms as soon after that date as possible.

We begin to schedule visits in the early fall for applicants to 9th grade and their parents. Appointments for applicants to Grades 5-7 and 10-11 are typically scheduled in January. When you visit Trinity, you will have a student-led tour of the school, and separate interviews for the applicant and parent/s.

We make most of our admissions offers in February, and most admitted candidates enroll in March.

If we learn of additional openings for Grades Five, Six, Seven, Nine, Ten, or Eleven after the March enrollment date, we consider late applicants.

We do not admit new students to Grades Eight or Twelve.
Information for International Student Applicants to Grades 9-11

Trinity School is a day school – we have no boarding facilities, and we do not assist students in finding local hosts or homestay opportunities. All of our students live in the New York City metropolitan area with their families.

We are happy to consider candidates from around the world, but Trinity does not provide assistance with I-20 visas, or with any travel or immigration documents.

Trinity’s curriculum is advanced, and requires students to have a high level of fluency in written and spoken English. We do not offer any ESL or other programs for students whose English language skills are not advanced.

For entrance, we require results from the ISEE or the SSAT, only. We do not require or accept results from the TOEFL.
