Choral Trip to Italy
The Performing Arts Department is thrilled to invite juniors enrolled in the choral program to serve as musical ambassadors of the school by traveling to Venice and Florence for a ten-day performance trip. On this inaugural performing arts trip, students will engage with Italy's culture and artistic communities through a musician’s lens. We will spend our time collaborating with local Italian singers and musicians to create a joint repertoire and then fill ancient and sacred spaces-- including Basilica San Marco in Venice, Chiesa Santa Margherita Assunta, and Chiesa Santa Margherita d'Antiochia in Montecatini--with a cappella music. Working creatively with these young artists and performing for local audiences will allow students to grow musically and experience cross-cultural connections that only the language of music can access. The itinerary will also include day-long excursions to the hilltop village of San Gimignano, a stop in Pisa and a hike along the Via dell'Amore to Riomaggiore--one of the five villages of the Cinque Terre-- as well as a walking tour of Saint Mark's Square in Venice and visits to the Duomo and the Medici Tombs, and many other historic sights in Florence.
This is a group performance trip. Therefore, application, acceptance and initial deposit constitute a binding commitment to the ensemble. If you cannot be sure you can travel, do not apply. If you have any questions about whether you should apply, please speak with Ms. Bonsignore.
