In the final game of the season, the Trinity Tigers travelled down to Brooklyn to take on the Poly Prep Blue Devils. On what seemed like the first real day of winter, the two teams took to the field to begin the game. The seniors, hungry to win their last game for TVS, came out with real courage and intensity.
Unfortunately, early in the first half, a Poly forward found the ball on a breakaway, and slotted it past the keeper. Just minutes later, the Blue Devils scored again. A corner kick was played into the Trinity box, and redirected towards the net. Senior keeper Eric Erlemade a great save on the initial try, but the deflection was put right back into the goal.
But with ten minutes to go in the half, Trinity would get one back. After Rex Duval's shot was just barely saved by the Poly keeper, Chris Wayland poked the rebound in, making it 2-1 heading into half time.
As the second half started, play began to get quite physical, with Poly Prep receiving two yellow cards. As both teams continued to fight, it looked like there were more goals to be had. And with 15 minutes left in the game, Poly Prep would score again, to take a commanding 3-1 lead. Trinity would continue to attack, with their seniors leading the way, but could not find the net. The Tigers walked off the field after the loss, disappointed at the result, but proud of the effort that they had put in.
