Trinity Tennis Undefeated for the First Half of the Season!!!

The Trinity Girls Varsity Tennis Squad is off to an amazing first half of the season with a record of 8-0 after playing all the teams in their Ivy League division. For the first time in Trinity’s history, the girls impressively defeated the Horace Mann team with a 4-1 win.

This year’s team is comprised of 11 dedicated players who bring years of experience to the squad.  Co captain Claire Keyte plays first singles and has had an impressive 4 years on the team alternating between first singles and second singles since her sophomore year. Amanda Edelman plays at second singles. She’s cool under pressure and is undefeated so far this year. 8th grader , Alexa has given the team important victories at the third singles spot particularly against Riverdale when the match rested on her racket. Madeline Steinberg and Anna McEnroe are also undefeated and are typically the first off the court after a speedy win. The pair has not really been tested yet and we certainly hope this continues. Co captain, Jessica Verdi plays second doubles wiih jumior Soraya Conille and have won some of their important matches in decisive tie breakers. The other members of the squad are senior, Ali Nadel, juniors, Gabreilla Borter, Gaelle Conille and sophomore Val Leifer.  Just recently all members of the team played a match against Rye Country Day and because of the team’s tremendous depth were victorious 7-0.

The team begins its next round of matches this Friday against Fieldston who they defeated 5-0 in the first match of the season.  The following weeks’ matches against Riverdale and Horace Mann will determine if the team has a good shot at the Ivy League title.
