Trinity edge out Dalton

The Trinity girls JV soccer team moved to 5-2-2 overall with a 2-1 win over Dalton at Randall's Island. It was a come from behind victory when Trinity, despite controlling possession for most of the game, allowed a sloppy goal early in the first half as they failed to clear the ball from their own 18 yard box, only to be poked home by the Dalton player. Trinity would get back on level terms when they were awarded a questionable penalty kick after the defender was adjudged to have handled the ball in her own box. Emma Pettit would once again step up to confidently strike the ball into the top right corner for another goal in her impressive freshman goal scoring season. The half would finish with Trinity on top but unable to add to the 1-1 scoreline. The second half would remain the same with Trinity trying to possess the ball, but just unable to find the neccessary quality needed to find the final pass and shot. The winning goal was scored by Alison Obstler after she found space in the box to lob the ball over the goalkeeper after being played in by a nice pass from Manoela Saldanha. Trinity would lock down the remainder of the game and hold Dalton to only once getting the ball into the Trinity box, again another testament to their strong work ethic and defensive efforts.

Trinity approach their final week of the season with an away game against Poly Prep on Monday, followed by back-to-back games against Hackley and Riverdale on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
